About The Project
Our History
The Roots & Branches Project is celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year. It was launched in the spring of 2006 by Ikebana instructors Linda Vane of the classical Senke School and Charles Coghlan of the Sogetsu modern. They decided to explore together with their students the intriguing similarities and differences between medieval flower master Sen no Rikyu and pioneer Sofu Teshigahara. Hosting joint workshops and various public exhibitions, they have found their way into the very Heart and Soul of the artform. With some amazing discoveries along this path, it is now their mission to share their findings with others. In this energetic Year of the Red Fire Horse, you are invited to please join them in their fun journey!
